A Question

In Bush's recent speech, he claims that permitting same-gender marriages "could have serious consequences throughout the country", and that they will "[weaken] the good influence of society".

So what exactly are these "serious consequences"? And in what way will the "good influence of society" be weakened? How about some specifics? Will swine give birth to swans? Will flocks of geese fly backwards? Will a great darkness cover the land and parents bestow strange names upon their children?

No, seriously. If you know what these dire repercussions are that he's talking about, please let me know in a comment.

I guess the idea of Mrs. Rosie O'Donnell makes the "president" think the world will end.
Sure, but why?

I've heard some pathetic attempts to explain it by asserting that gay marriages "diminish the sanctity of marriage", but that's total bull. It doesn't make my marriage to Karen any less important or meaningful or worthwhile if Rod and Roger are permitted to tie the knot.

(And if the intent is really to preserve the religious sanctity of marriage, why aren't they including language to forbid divorces? The Bible doesn't specifically mention gay marriages, but it certainly has some things to say about divorces. Oh, they're hypocrites; that's why.)
