What's Up With That? Wednesday
“Lifetime: Television for Women.” “We: Women’s Entertainment.” What’s up with that? Suddenly we need segregation of the sexes on cable TV? Not that guys are all that upset that they are apparently not ‘allowed’ to watch that stuff. But imagine what would happen if they tried to call ESPN or Cinemax “Television for Men”? Women’s groups would probably set fire to network executives (though that’s not necessarily a bad thing). Besides, calling that insipid programming “television for women” is stereotyping - I’d rather watch “The Man Show” than Colin Cowie.
