Jen started it...

Jen Thompson of A Festive Attyre decided to have fun with Photoshop and period portraits. I enjoyed it so much, I had to try it myself!

Jeff as Henry
Jeff Lee as Sir Henry Lee

(Click image to enlarge) Damn, Sir Henry had a long neck!

Update: Jeff as Sir Thomas More, and as Philip II

Shades of Black Adder!
I don't know why, but the Sir Thomas More pic is vaguely disturbing. And now we know that you shouldn't make the outfit that Phillip II is wearing.
You look really fantastic in this outfit, I wonder if the neck was really that long or its an mistake in proportions by the painter.

This is sort of a fun way to try out the costumes before you make them.

The Phillip picture makes you look like an A/S judge who has just realized the effects of sampling bad pumpkin cake.
Terrific fun! Mre, please.

OMG, I'm strangely fascinated by the Phillip II. I gotta dig up a non nasty pic o' me and try this!
Two questions:
1. Why does Sir Henry Lee have this thumb looped into his necklace.

2. Have you considered a portrait of yourself as Obi Wan Kenobi? Kane asked.
He's got his thumb in a ring, similar to the two tied around his left arm. The rings were probably favors from his mistress, Anne Vavasour (for whom the painting was probably commissioned).

And no, I hadn't thought of doing one as Obi-Wan Kenobi, but here's a quick one of me as Darth Vader. :-)

Don't be daft! Sir Henry Lee's picture was painted in 1568 by Antonis Mor. Anne Vavasour was probably about three at the time!
Well, that's what an art history book said. *shrug*

According to the Turks' exhibition at the Royal Academy, London, thumb rings were worn to denote prowess in hunting and military matters, which would fit with Lee - (he's my Ph.D. topic!) Any art historian ever heard of this before?
