CLEARWATER -- The former owners of a gift shop in the Fort Harrison Hotel have filed a lawsuit against the present and former owners of the Clearwater hotel that was purchased by the Church of Scientology in December.
Paul M. and Sophie G. Wade filed against United Churches, Southern Land Development and Leasing Corp., owners of the hotel, and Jack Tar Hotels Inc., the former owners.
The Wades say they have been forced to give up their lease of the shop because the public is not allowed into the hotel where the shop is located and that the people staying in the hotel do not use it.
The suit also contends that the Wades' telephone, air-conditioning and burglar alarm were shut off and that the defendants "ignored" requests to alleviate the Wade's problems.
