THE original printed book, whence this electronic edition is derived, is quite a bit longer than this present work.
The first five chapters, as may be seen from the Table of Contents, contained basic mathematical and geometric formulæ, and "Arithmetical Problems" to help the reader understand them.
Given that there were over 140 pages of such material, with another 25 more in the Appendix (none of which produced usable results with OCR software), I chose to bypass those chapters, and instead transcribed the remaining sixty pages, which dealt with the Practical Art of Gunnery.
I hope this omission will be forgiven; if not, I will be more than willing to give credit to anyone willing to type inand mark up into MS-Reader compatible HTMLthe missing portions.
One problematical area was the fact that many of the vulgar fractions did not reproduce well in my copy of this book; I have made my best educated guesses, cross-referencing them both with other chapters in this work and with another contemporary treatise on gunnery, but all fractions encountered herein should be taken with a grain of Powder.
I have corrected one or two obvious typographical errors, but have tried to make as few alterations to the text as possible, and have left the original spelling intact.
Any comments, corrections or additions may be directed to me at <godfrey@shipbrook.net>.
