When I was growing up, I read and watched all the science fiction I could get my eyes on. Among the shows I loved was Gerry Anderson's Space:1999. Now, over a quarter of a century later, I can see a few more shortcomings in the scripts than I did when I was eight -- but the models and props still look as good as I remembered.
In 1999, to commemorate the series, I created a model of the Eagle spacecraft (displayed in my POV-Ray Gallery). Recently, however, I purchased some of the series on DVD, and in a fit of nostalgia, I modeled the Commlock prop in Animation:Master.
Many thanks are due to the Space:1999 Cybermuseum and the Catacombs at http://www.space1999.net, which contained the technical drawings and reference photographs which made this 3D model possible.
